Lieberman did not "repeatedly" mention Israel. I just watched the video. He mentioned Israel twice, and only in the context that Iran was arming and supporting militants who kill our soldiers in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and now Hamas against Israel. In urging on Glorious War with Iran, Lieberman repeatedly mentioned Israel, including the fact that he had just returned from his latest visit there. In parading around all the various possible pretexts for this new war, Lieberman repeatedly highlighted all the threats which Iran poses to that country, which is a different nation than the U.S. That Israel is at the center of the growing calls for a new war with Iran can hardly be reasonably doubted.
Glenn Greenwald is blatantly lying.
Watch it for yourself...
It's very important, Bob, because I didn't just go to Iraq, I went visited throughout the Arab world and Israel. And what you see throughout the Middle East is Iran in battle basically with us and the moderates, supplying the extremists in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas fighting the Fatah faction, our allies among the Palestinians, and, of course, committing terrorists acts against the Israelis.Greenwald definitely exaggerated a bit, but I'd not call that an outright lie. Lieberman did mention Israel more than once (which I guess technically is repeatedly), and there really can't be any doubt that Israel is being held out as one of the main reasons a whole slew of people want to bomb Iran. Still, it's very disappointing that Greenwald would, um, embellish Lieberman's statements so much...but then, I don't think he's ever claimed to be unbiased. None of them are (the internet reporters, that is).
Lieberman Advocates Attack On Iran
Sen. Joe Lieberman told Face The Nation the U.S. should bomb Iran because they continue to aid anti-American forces in Iraq. What do you think?
"Wow, my uneducated 12-year-old son said the same thing!"
"Lieberman should stop going on that show. Bob Schieffer must antagonize the hell out of him during commercial breaks, and that leads to dumbshit comments like this."
"If I didn't know that was solid foreign policy, I'd swear it was incoherent mumbling!"
I would support covert action against Iran to protect U.S. troops. There has to be a price to pay for helping murder our troops. If we play by their rules we too could deny our actions. The middle east lives by the lie. Direct attacks would cause needless casualties. Since the U.S. is already taking this approach in Iran direct action is not necessary. Direct action would create more Jihidists and would be determental to our image, which like it or not has an effect on relations with other countries throughout the world. Our troops are already fighting with one arm behind their back due to restrictions on how our troops may fight the war. Of course we are the only one playing by these arbitrary rules. AS usual. What we need is someone who has a better grasp of the realities of the situation. And our present President is clueless.
