I live in nice community with a state and nationally ranked school district. Needless to say, you pay a premium to live here.
There is very little inherited wealth here. The majority of the homeowners arrive here because of superior skills, either corporate, professional or entreprenarial. In other words, they worked really hard to get here.
Yet, I see them overindulge their children. A car here is the birthright of a 17 year old. Coach bags are the must have of middle school girls. Incredibily they get them.
Then the very same parents lament when they are forced to have to subsidize the very same 25-30 year old child either in their basement or through rent/mortgage subsidies. The adult child has not built the work ethic, skills, resume and income to advance.
