We were driving home around nine at night when we came upon an intersection with an overpass.
When we stopped, we heard a kitten meowing loudly, but couldn't see it.
We are animal rescuers and we run rescue out of our home. So far, we have 20 dogs, five cats, three birds, one rabbit, two horses, and a racoon. We're actively adopting them out when we know they have a good home to go to.
So, you know that we just couldn't drive off without finding this little thing. We did drive off, enough to run home and get out flashlights. We came back, parked and walked the road in the dark, with cars all around.
Finally, I found her...stuck up in the base of one of those huge metal streetlights. Her scared meows were amplified in the streetlight casing. We sat there and sat there, listening to her terrified crying...it seems like forever. Finally, she came down and stuck her head out. She wasn't feral (wild), meaning someone had obviously dumped her....
We grabbed her and took her home. She was skin and bones and meowed constantly, only stopping when my wife came in the room..she's full of love and is eating to make up for it all.
She's a calico...the colored patches are almost perfectly round like God had dotted her coat with a magic marker.
Haven't thought of a name yet...now, we need to find her a good home.
Why does this happen to us?
