how to make a gun silencer
It is amazing that anything is able to silence a gun, but gun silencers actually work on a very simple principle.

Imagine a balloon. If you pop a balloon with a pin, it will make a loud noise. But if you were to untie the end of the balloon and let the air out slowly, you could pop it making very little noise. That is the basic idea behind a gun silencer.

To fire a bullet from a gun, gunpowder is ignited behind the bullet. The gunpowder creates a high-pressure pulse of hot gas. The pressure of the gas forces the bullet down the barrel of the gun. When the bullet exits the end of the barrel, it is like uncorking a bottle. The pressure behind the bullet is immense, however -- on the order of 3,000 pounds per square inch (psi) -- so the POP that the gun makes as it is uncorked is extremely loud.

A silencer screws on to the end of the barrel and has a huge volume compared to the barrel (20 or 30 times greater). With the silencer in place, the pressurized gas behind the bullet has a big space to expand into. So the pressure of the hot gas falls significantly. When the bullet finally exits through the hole in the silencer, the pressure being uncorked is much, much lower -- perhaps 60 psi. Therefore, the sound of the gun firing is much softer.

A firearm silencer, also known as a suppressor, works in the same way as a car muffler. The muffler consists of chambers for the compression to be dispersed and the sound to be redirected or absorbed. Heat is also reduced throughout the muffler system. A firearm silencer works on the same principle.
There are generally three sections to a firearm silencer:
The first stage of the firearm silencer ususally consists of something that will absorb and dissipate heat rapidly. It also allows for part of the compression to be reduced due to the quick cooling of gases.
The second stage of the firearm silencer usually consists of rubber or plastic washers or discs that help slow down the bullet to sub sonic speeds. It also helps reduce compression.
The third and more complicated stage of the firearm silencer usually consists of tall wooden washers with rubber discs between them or thick chambers of soft plastic. The end of this stage has a low wear rubber cylinder to slow down outgoing air.
The entire firearm silencer is contained within a one and a half inch 300 PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) plastic pvc pipe.
Parts list:
• 1x 6-14inch 300psi plastic pvc pipe
• 10-15x Rubber or medium hardness plastic discs
• 11-16x Soft Wood washers with 1 1/4 inch ID
• 1x Rubber cylinder
• 5x Rubber discs
• 6x tall wooden washers, plain
• 2x steel plugs for the middle and front of the firearm silencer
• 1x heat and pressure dispersement rod with positioning rings, black.
• 2x stabilizer donuts to keep the firearm silencer straight, red.
• 4x separator discs, green.
• 1x Adapter to attach the firearm silencer to the firearm.
Discs can be cut out with a hole saw, purchased from any local hardware store. The materials can be bought there also. Rubber or plastic can be cut out of tires or trashcans. wooden washers can be cut out of particle board. The steel plugs can be bought at any automotive store as freeze plugs. The heat and pressure rod can be bought at any metal shop; buy at 4-6 inches long Aluminium tube at about 1/8 inch thick with an ID (Internal Diameter) as close to the bullet as possible. Stabilizer donuts can be cut out of birch or oak wood and then drilled with a hole drill. All discs and inserted materials except the head rod should be slightly under 1 1/2 inch diameter so that they will fill snugly in the tube.
The heat rod should be drilled full of holes 1/4 inch from each end. These holes should be about the same size as the bullet. Leave about a quarter inch gap between each hole. Place a wooden donut at each end and wrap the rod in aluminium screen. Screw the rod into the wood or use epoxy. Place this part into the tube first, this should be very tight and could even have to be hammered into the tube, however do not use screws or glue to hammer it in place.
Now place a steel plug in the tube so that the rounded end is facing the top or exit hole. Now place the adapter in the tube followed by the stabilizer donuts. Make sure the barrel will seat securely in the adapter and that the donuts are snug on the barrel. Make sure you place a separator disc between each stage. Drill little holes in the tube about halfway into the adapter and donuts and place small screws in place to hold them securely.
Note that a small angle is cut into the adaptor to facilitate the sight of the gun. The adaptor has to be reamed at an angle so that the sight will not interfere.
Place a smaller pvc pipe in the front end and push the heat dispersement chamber up to the separator disc, next to the adaptor.
Now from the top, place a wooden washer then plastic disc, washer, disc etc. 9mm ammunition usually requires 12-15 and a 22 usually 6-9. There should be 12-15 discs and 13-16 wooden washers, do not end up with a washer, now place another separator in place.
Last you will need to insert two rubber discs and a tall wooden washer, two discs then a washer. Now place another separator in place. If you wish to shoot full auto you must double the quantity of internal parts and use an aluminium pipe covered with neoprene sleeve, remember that metal dings.
Firearm silencers could be illegal in some locations, be safe and know the firearm silencer laws in your location.

How does bulletproof glass work?
At first glance, bullet-resistant glass looks identical to an ordinary pane of glass, but that's where the similarities end. An ordinary piece of glass shatters when struck by a single bullet. Bullet resistant glass is designed to withstand one or several rounds of bullets depending on the thickness of the glass and the weapon being fired at it. So, what gives bullet-resistant glass the ability to stop bullets?
Different manufacturers make different variations of bullet-resistant glass, but it is basically made by layering a polycarbonate material between pieces of ordinary glass in a process called lamination. This process creates a glass-like material that is thicker than normal glass. Polycarbonate is a tough transparent plastic -- often known by the brand name Lexan, Tuffak or Cyrolon. Bullet-resistant glass is between 7 millimeters and 75 millimeters in thickness. A bullet fired at a sheet of bullet-resistant glass will pierce the outside layer of the glass, but the layered polycarbonate-glass material is able to absorb the bullet's energy and stop it before it exits the final layer.

The ability of bullet-resistant glass to stop a bullet is determined by the thickness of the glass. A rifle bullet will collide with the glass with a lot more force than a bullet from a handgun, so a thicker piece of bullet-resistant glass would be needed to stop a rifle bullet as opposed to a handgun bullet.

There is also one-way bullet-resistant glass available, which has one side able to stop bullets, while the other side allows bullets to pass through it unaffected. This gives a person being shot at the ability to shoot back. This type of bullet-resistant glass is made by laminating a brittle sheet of material with a flexible material.

Imagine a car equipped with this one-way bullet-resistant glass. If a person outside the car shoots a bullet into the window, the bullet would strike the brittle side first. This brittle material would shatter around the point of impact and absorb some of the energy over a large area. The flexible material then absorbs the remaining energy of the bullet, stopping the bullet. A bullet fired from inside the same car would easily pass through the glass because the bullet's force is concentrated on a small area, which causes the material to flex. This causes the brittle material to break outwards, allowing the bullet to pierce the flexible material and strike its target.

- ونكرر ما سَلَف في المقدمة من أن العمل في هذه الموسوعة لا يزال جارياً، وأننا أَخْرَجْنا هذا القَدْر ريثما ينتهي المشروع، فنستطيع عندها تسمية هذه الموسوعة بـ "الموسوعة الأمنية الكبرى" تضم ما سبقها من عمل إخوتنا إخوة السلاح، وسيكون العمل القادم إن شاء الله ضَمُّ ما ذُكِر من أَمْنِيَّات في الجزء الأول من "موسوعة الجهاد" مع التذكير أنه لا يحوي أمنيات الجوّال والإنترنت، وفي كتاب "كيف تواجه المحقق؟"، وفي كتاب "الأمن والمخابرات"، وأخيراً من كتاب "التنظيم والاعتقال والتحقيق"، وقد وضعناها جميعها في "المواد الداعمة لمادة الموقع" ريثما يتيسر ضم ما يناسب منها إلى هذه الموسوعة.

* وللمرونة وزيادة الخبرات يمكن الاستفادة من كتب الجاسوسية والروايات المتعلقة بموضوعنا في شيئين:

1- معرفة نقاط الضعف التي تم كشف المجموعة أو الخطة بها؛ وذلك لئلا نقع بها. [مرت أمثلة كثيرة بنا كحادثة شراء الورود وانكشاف الرجل للمخابرات].

2- إذا أردنا عمل شيء يشبه تلك الخطة أو الحادثة فنتجنب ما وقع بها من خلل. [نسيان قفاز مثلاً].

وكان أبو زبيدة –فك الله أسره- يَحْرص على الاستفادة من مثل هذه الأشياء، بل فكرةُ أحداث يوم الثلاثاء المبارك –بإذن الله- مستوحاة من قصة فيها دخولٌ في برج، وانتَبَه إليها أحد الإخوة، ثم تمت دراستها إلى أن تم ترجمتها إلى واقع عملي، ورحلة ألف ميل تبدأ بخطوة!

Internet may have played role in bomb plot

Police believe the suspects in the alleged bomb plot in Toronto may have been part of a growing trend of cyber-jihadism.

Canadian authorities estimate there are as many as 4,500 jihadist websites, and they've become the main networking tool for radicals.

It is uncensored terrain and authorities say it is growing fast.

There are calls to arms, even step-by-step instructions, from how to make an explosive to where a suicide bomber should stand in a crowded bus for maximum impact.

The recruits seem to be mostly young men at a crossroads between Islamic society and the Western world. Security experts call them the "jihad generation," young, confused and computer savvy.

"It is easier to recruit a 17-year-old who is in a crisis of identity, who is unsure of his place in the world, than it is to recruit someone who is 40, married, a job, a career, a lot of life experience to keep him balanced," said John Thompson of the Mackenzie Institute.

Using the internet in such a manner has been done before.
Ahmed Omar Abu Ali of Falls Church, Va., was found guilty of plotting to kill U.S. President George W. Bush and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Authorities found he had researched online terrorist manuals.

A report into the London's transit system bombings last July also found the bombers plotted their attack on the internet.

But Frank Cilluffo, who served in the U.S. Office of Homeland Security, says the street runs both ways.

"Hopefully, one of the outcomes of this case is that not only do terrorists recognize the role of the internet, but maybe they should also start recognizing that the good guys exploit that as well, and beware."

There's a name that has been around for a long time.

I have every version of the encyclopedia that was ever made.
It's a hobby of mine.

Whatever happened to the English version?
Did it never get finished?
I thought it was uploaded at one point, but I think the links didn't work.

Wasn't there going to be a French version also?

An electronic book titled: “The Great Security Encyclopedia,” which was recently distributed amongst several jihadist forums, provides tactical lessons for urban combat, communications, espionage, and security preparation for anonymity and stealth. The e-book is presented with an Internet-browser interface and contains a wealth of long and detailed manuals, short articles concerning Mujahideen operations, information about U.S. security agencies, including the CIA and NSA, and explanations of torture methods used by intelligence investigators in American prisons. A foreword to the encyclopedia explains its origin and purpose: “This encyclopedia has been composed from several encyclopedias written with the blood of our Mujahideen brothers. Brothers, we ask you not to distort this encyclopedia; I entreat you by Allah not to use this encyclopedia against Islam, Muslims, and Mujahideen”.

Sections outlining and analyzing the foundation of Islamic law to security and its importance, propaganda referring to Mujahideen capabilities, such as a CBS report according to which a senior aide to Usama bin Laden alleged that al-Qaeda was working on a nuclear weapon, and physical and psychological training methods for Mujahideen are included within the e-book. Subdirectories and files contained within include: “An Example of Communications used by the Brothers that Infuriated the Enemies of Allah,” “Escape from the Ruwais Prison,” which documents an interview with Sheikh Abu Laith al-Qasimi who escaped from this facility in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the “Global Hawk” Plane.
A summary of the e-book and a translation of selected portions is provided to our Intel Service members.
