IH quickly became the most influential BBS I've ever been a part of.

It's changed how I view things and has given me a shot at reality. For some, that's not hard. For me, it was almost impossible.

Thanks, indeed. I owe ya one. At least.

Regis, you were a patriot to the core. You did so much good with your life and so much good for others lifes. This country will be forever indebted to you.

You are loved. You are missed. And you are respected in the deepest sense of the word.

Thank you,

Thank you Regis. I'd like to say something witty and profound but I can't seem to make anything fit. You and I had our differences of opinion but I've always known you're the real deal. I've always respected your thoughts even if I didn't necessarily agree with them. You were a solid guy that one couldn't help but respect, even though you didn't give two shits about fixing typos. Somehow it was always obvious the way you posted didn't mean shit, the content was unmistakable and poignant. Similar to the way you lived your life. The details might have been questionable but the content of your character was always like granite. Rest peacefully my friend. Let the harrowing concerns of this world wash off your soul. The struggle is over and you've earned your reward. Your legacy is one of dauntless character, unwavering determination, free spirited lilt of humor and an uncanny acumen for finding strength in weakness.

You will always live on through the works you have forged with your actions and your convictions. The America you loved and the world you believed in can only be advanced through what you've accomplished and the ideals you've held up, to which others can aspire. Say hello to Dionysus for me and drink deeply of the quenching spirits of Valhalla. Your mark on life is a battle cry for all of us who you've moved, until we join you. Rest well Regis. Rest in peace.

~~Journey of the Souls~~

Each of us are searching, through the canyons of our mind,
For eternal recognition, and a peace that's undefined.
Reaching out to others to help them on their way
Helping them through traumas they are facing every day.
Befriending who we can, with a smile or kindly word,
Knowing we are helping, we will not be deterred.
Searching for the spirit which we know just hides inside,
Hoping for some guidance from a very willing guide.
All of different faiths, all welcomed just the same,
Sharing tears and laughter, the problems and the pain.
Souls Journey is our solace, we need never feel alone..
At last the door is open, we can truly say we're home

Thank you Regis and I hope the almighty does look after you too. No none is perfect in life and as I once said the greatest tool mankind has had was to communicate to others and you have given people the
ability to do that. When it came to your last post our nation and our people did mean very much to you. Some of us has lost somepeople near and dear to us as you may had been to people for when someone is gone a vacant part of peoples feelings in their heart can be lost too to others. Bless you in your new adventure.

We, each of us, are unable to conceive of the effect we make on others in our lives. We might recognize our accomplishments, we might take pride in our victories. what we don't know is how we impacted others in the very most real sense.

Jon impacted others not only by his deeds, but by his life, by his thoughts, by his wit and humor, and by his very being. That is the X factor that we never know...like ripples on a pond following the thrown stone. Wide circles....he made them. I have no pictures. Only the most fond memories and respect.

What you created here was truely amazing. IH was a mixture of genius and inspiration and raw courage.

It most certainly applies to you.

Regis,

What you created here was really amazing--

You created something that never existed before-- a special place where common people on opposite sides of a world at war could talk-- across the great gaping divides of religion, culture and politics.

Across the lines of intense hatred and violence, across the agonizing and often frightening clash of civilizations. Across oceans of fear and mistrust.

The talk was not always pretty or easy or pleasant-- but nevertheless, IH was a new kind of conversation that had never occured before--

Not ever in history, in any of mans' previous countless wars, back into the mists of our most ancient past, had a conversation like this ever occured during wartime.

It was the first of it's kind-- and the whole world responded here.

Nearly one million hits are bare testimony to the power of the space that you created-- between warring peoples and feuding factions that spanned the entire globe.

You were, amongst the chaos, and often intense and occasionally frightening exchanges here-- frequently funny, sometimes gruff and caustic, prone to telling people off-- but underneath of it all you were always amazingly patient.

Considering the open death threats against you (posted numerous times on these boards) the often withering insults and the constant attempts to hack this site into oblivion, people who complained about your occasional cantankerousness had no idea how patient you really were.

You were also tough and wiley and you even helped put some terrorists out of business-- but you made it clear to every one that your greatest dream was one of a deeper understanding, and possibly even someday, a greater peace.

IH was indeed an amazing idea that you conceived and made real-- it was a mixture of genius and inspiration and raw courage.

And likely every future human conflict will now have it's own IH-- this is a gift that you, Jon, have given to our children.

Perhaps it is too soon to know if such forums can make any kind of difference, perhaps it will take a very long time and many more wars for electronic bridges like these to make a difference for a suffering humanity.

But you built the first electronic bridge between warring nations anyway...

And I suspect that your inspiration and the risks that you took and the new venue that you created will have an impact.

Jon, the word 'hero' applies to very few people.

It most certainly applies to you.

Sleep in peace my brother. Take your well deserved rest, my friend.

Mrs. Regis,
Thanks for sharing your husband with this board. He has left a legacy of people here that will always ask questions, that will never accept "it can't be done" and will carry on his quest.

Did not get to know him personally, but his posts were, and still are, inspiring. I hope his posts will still remain. He kept abreast to not only terrorist activity, but breaking health issues and the economy. His wit and concern for the safety and well being of all were evident as he wrote.

Thanks again and so many best wishes to you and your family.

God bless you, Regis. I know you weren't a religious man, but may God bless you anyway.

I've learned a lot about the world, about my country, and about the new shape of things to come because of what you did in creating what seemed like a "simple website."

Whether or not you knew it before you left this Earth, you changed a lot of peoples lives; Some for the better, some for the worst, and all by giving us a place to learn.

In short, you've helped remove the naivety that a lot of us may have had about the world, and current events, because of what you did with your website, itshappening, and because of what you said yourself.

Rest in peace, and here's to hoping your wife and family stay strong.

Furi Kuri, Furi Kura. As I like to say. It's everything, yet nothing at all. R.I.P

"We don't rest in peace, we just disappear.." You've joined the Ranks of some good men, Regis. Disappeared and gone, but never forgotten. You're a lucky man, in life you were blessed with a good family, in death you were blessed with hundreds who miss you.. Congratulations, how's it feel to have the weight of the world off your shoulders? :add15:

Thanks again, Regis, for giving us a place where we can shit in our own bed...and inevitably, have to pick it up and learn our lesson. Whatever becomes of it, it was a priceless gift.

Well, Mr. Jon, I guess its too late. The conversations I started and never finished with you...I guess they'll remain undone. I looked forward to the day when we could talk without a billion interruptions. I know you were a very busy man, and my concerns were not yours, or at least you didn't seem to be concerned. But I will say I am sorry I did not pursue things with you further. Who knows what transpired, but God and you, and I hope that the memory of you will somehow turn somebody in the right direction. Cherie, my heart goes out to you. I want you to know that you are loved by many.

Bob
