Clearly if WE do not set forth the intiative to establish businesses to hire them, we will then be left hungry and competing with them for food.

THE value of UK arms exports to China has more than trebled to more than £100m in the past three years alone, it emerged last night.

Officials in Washington last night confirmed that they would raise concerns about the ongoing trade with China during high-level negotiations designed to prevent the removal of the 16-year EU embargo over the coming weeks.

Although the government’s interpretation of an EU-wide embargo prevents the sale to China of "lethal weapons", military vehicles and aircraft, and "any equipment which is likely to be used for internal repression", it allows for the export of a range of components and technologies.

Since 1997, ministers have rubber-stamped hundreds of applications for licences, enabling British firms to export to China military equipment, including components for electronic warfare weaponry, lasers, radars, military helicopters, nuclear reactors and unmanned air vehicles.

They have also been granted permission to sell technology to help China produce its own military equipment, such as combat aircraft. Latest government figures on the trade confirm that UK military exports to China increased from £32m in 2001 to £76m in 2003, and then to more than £80m in the first three months of last year - including £44m between July and September, the latest period for which figures are available.

British ministers accept that colleagues across the EU have an even less restrictive interpretation of the embargo, leading to a similar rate of growth in arms sales to China across the continent - up to some £360m in 2003.

Details of the growing trade come amid the escalating row between the EU and the United States, which fears that the lifting of the embargo will allow China to develop as a superpower, and risk provoking an attempt to retake Taiwan.

In the face of concerns from the White House and a cross-party committee of senior MPs, British ministers last week maintained the EU line that "the result of any decision should not be an increase of arms exports from EU member states to China, either in quantitative or in qualitative terms".

But American politicians and anti-arms campaigners insist that the "leakage" of weapons exports behind the umbrella ban underlined fears that a relaxation of the existing controls could only provoke an acceleration of the trade in military weapons to China.

Republican Congressman Tom Lantos, senior Democrat on the House International Relations Committee, has complained bitterly about the existing sales, and promised "strong and outraged retaliatory action" from the US if the embargo was removed.

Lantos said Congress was united against "this degree of arrogant, in-your-face sales to a communist dictatorship of advanced military equipment".

He added: "People who advocate it in Europe should go down to the American military cemeteries and remind themselves of the lives we sacrificed to liberate Europe."

Tony Blair’s own MPs last week reinforced warnings that his support for EU moves to lift the embargo would threaten his crucial special relationship with the Americans. The Labour-dominated Quadripartite Committee said that EU arms selling to China "places European security policy in direct conflict with that of the United States", and could "necessitate limitations and constraints" on its relations with Europe.

A hard-hitting report from the committee also complained that China’s human-rights record had not improved since the brutal repression of pro-democracy protesters in Tiananmen Square in 1989.

British industry stands to lose most from retaliatory strikes by the Americans, due to its leading role in winning US military contracts, and preferential participation in technology-sharing deals with US firms, through the close links between the Pentagon and the Ministry of Defence.

1 THE SOUTHERN THREAT PART THREE

What is commonly called Latin America, Mexico, Central and South America to be precise, has a long history quite independent of anything the USA went through. The USA has repeatedly failed to understand this and has a history of first ignoring everything south of the Rio Grande; then suddenly becoming aware of something which displeases it; then, panicking and intervening directly either through internal subversion, economic bribery or military invasion. At least this is the pattern of United States involvement in Latin America in my opinion. We are now in a situation where the USA is doing all three at the same time, just in different places. Because we have done this, we have allowed an opening to happen which the Red Chinese are boldly, openly and with great effectiveness taking advantage of. Latin America is rapidly becoming an overseas colony of Red China. Latin America is the new front line for Al Qaida. And the USA hasn't even noticed.

A brief listing will tell the story. There is an area on the border with Brazil and Uruguay I think in which Islamic terrorists openly operate. It is the new Afghanistan. The USA is so busy in the Middle East we are ignoring it since we don't want to deal with it. Islamic terrorists have come over our border from Mexico. We don't want to know about that either. We don't want to know about the links between the drug cartels and the terror cells. We don't want to know about Fiddle Castro and his bio warfare programs. We prefer to be ignorant.

If all the USA had to worry about in Latin America was Al Qaida I wouldn't be making such dire statements. Unfortunately, I do not believe in independent terrorism. By that I mean what we call Islamic terrorism is really state sponsored, Red China and Russia, engaging in hands off warfare with the USA. And we are too stupid, too arrogant and too greedy to even understand that, much less deal with it. We will die because of this in my opinion.

Surely you will say that I am not seeing what I am seeing or not understanding what I am seeing. Fair enough. Judge for yourself. Argentina has undergone serious economic problems. The major investor in Argentina now is Red China. Red China has military, repeat, military defense pacts with both Cuba and Venezuela. Red China has operational control of both ends of the Panama Canal. Red China operates the largest container port in the New World at Freeport in the Bahamas, a very short distance from the USA. Red China has made political, diplomatic and military overtures to every single country in Latin America. Brazil right now is run by a socialist and is very friendly with Red China. In a few days Brazil plans to legalize drug possession, which will bring it into direct conflict with the United States and its war on drugs. In Peru the entire air transport system was shut down due to lack of insurance. A large city attempted to privatize its electrical distribution system to a Belgian company: the resulting riots and anarchy were so intense the army had to quell them. Bolivia has found natural gas deposits and is in virtual civil war trying to figure out what to do with them. The list goes on and on and on.

Even Mexico is a cesspool of corruption and incompetence from which millions of illegals, terror cells and contraband pour into the USA. We do nothing about any of it. Red China sees all this and takes advantage of it. Red China plays the role of Bin Laden in Afghanistan, showing up with money, lots of money, and gets what ever it wants. Red China owns Latin America. The Monroe Doctrine has been abolished before our very eyes. We haven't even noticed. i will repeat my comments on Panama: under the treaty the United States can station 10,000 troops there. We do nothing of the sort. We allow the Red Chinese to control the only way we have for rapid sea borne reinforcement of our Pacific military forces. This is beyond insanity. It is treason. Pure and simple.

And now we get to the meat of the matter so to speak. It is surely enough of a threat to the USA for Red China to have virtually taken over every country south of the Rio Grande. It is surely a matter of grave concern for us to watch the way in which Red China now openly controls an entire continent. The USA has no southern border control and hasn't had for at least 30 years. Now we have a hostile power, Red China, a country which has openly said they plan to go to war with us at their discretion, moving into our very backyard. And what are they doing down there you ask? So what if they have made diplomatic, trade or even military contacts down there? Gee, I guess I will have to spell it out in greater detail.

I will start with Fiddle Castro and Cuba. Despite what former President Carter says, Fiddle has had a robust bio warfare program since he got his butt kicked in October 1962. Cuba is on the flight path for many birds. About the same time as the West Nile Virus showed up, a strain unlike the actual one in Egypt by the way, the very same mosquito, the one best suited to spread the disease appeared. All of this happened on the East Coast, right on the bird flight ways from Cuba and Latin America. Yep, just Doomer Doug going Doomer on ya all. They shall hear but not understand; they shall look but not see. So be it.

Now I am going to write harsh words. The following represent my opinions based upon the evidence I have seen over the last few years. It goes as follows. Red China is preparing for a general war with the USA. These preparations are not limited to the Pacific and war over Taiwan. Red China, the place where the Art of War was written several thousand years ago is way beyond that. The same Red China where a member of their joint Chiefs openly threatened to nuke Los Angeles if we intervened to protect Taiwan, is making good the threat while we slumber. The USA elite has made a Faustian bargain with the Red Chinese for its economic soul. We will do nothing to Red China at all while our current elite whores after Mammon. In case you don't quite get it, Red China has subverted the political process in the USA since at least 1996, openly subverted it. We don't care.

The result of all this, what I call ChinaGeld, after the Danegeld in England, is the USA has already lost the first round. The United States lost control of its southern flank for good in my opinion. The cost of retaking it would defeat us all by itself. Red China has already won its war with us. We haven't realized it yet. And here is why Red China has already won. I will put it in large words so you can understand it clearly. RED CHINA HAS DEPLOYED HUNDREDS OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS, DOZENS OF MOBILE MISSILE LAUNCHERS IN CONTAINERS IN PANAMA, AT FREEPORT, IN CUBA AND IN VENEZUELA!. There I said it. For those of you sputtering in protest, I don't care.

We know for a fact, it was even reported in the Downstream press a few years ago, Red China used a cargo container to import AK-47's into California. Exactly how many thousand of them are already in the USA I have no idea. What I do know and am now saying is Red China in its preparations for war with the USA has opened a southern front in Latin America. As a part of that front Red China has shipped in offensive weapons and delivery systems to insure a rapid and total victory over the USA. It is all in the Art of War. Read it. To think Red China is doing what it is doing in Cuba and Venezuela for instance and not plan a First Strike on the USA is idiotic.

Red China clearly plans to take over Taiwan. Red China has a broad ranging, well thought out plan to do exactly that. Part of that plan is to open a southern front against the USA. Forget about LA. When they move on Taiwan Red China will issue us an ultimatum. Back off or find out what is really in those thousands of cargo containers in FreePort for instance. I tell you I know what is in them. We will find out. You better hope that I am indeed a crank; I don't think so. You will find out the day hundreds of Red Chinese missiles come into the USA from our open southern flank. The threat from the south is real. It is growing and it would require more guts than anyone in our elite has to deal with it.

Latin America like China is just one of the bold econimic frontiers being blazed by global corps seeking new innovative investments to counter the US dollar they abandoning.
With the fed pumping out 4.5 BIL A DAY in paper which is getting ever more available yet ever more valueless, we see corporations using China as the "evil" proxy to invest into Latin American economies.
The scarey thing is that these corporations and no I won't name names are buying into local currencies in favor of the U.S. dollar.
When you have XYZ, inc willing to take San Gutamingo Guido over a U.S. greenback that means deep shit, and don't be fooled just because XZY,inc of Xzing Cho is a subsiderary of ABC, Inc Del, USA
Putting the Red Chinese face on the menace does give us a place outward at least to focus our anger.... but the enemy lies within US.
In the first 10 weeks of 2005 Americans created more debt spending then the entire year of 2004..... All three barametors of China's expected growth for 2005 have increased in the first quarter.
Americans gonna borrow anyway, at least invest in America building america.

Inflation decreases the value of a dollar. Simply printing more money only exacerbates the situation. It increased in value because people saw an investment opportunity. The dollar had gotten too low and became smart investment.

It points out a real problem but, unfortunately, I don’t see a painless solution to it. In earlier times, we were capable of pulling together to address difficult situations. It seems that our capacity to do the same now has become diminished. My belief is that “way back when” most Americans shared a common set of ideas about our country which lent itself to rendering them capable of being rallied. Today, we agree on much less than we used to (religion, ideology, our role in the world, etc, etc, etc). Our sense of national identity is just not what it used to be. Factor in the notion that with prosperity has come indifference. Additionally, the problems that we face are becoming increasingly complex. We find ourselves in a situation where Americans don’t agree about too many things, feel less strongly about their nation, face increasingly perplexing problems, have a new and cunning set of enemies to deal with and, on top of that, are less likely to give a shit. An attitude of "the whole world hates us" can easily become a self fulfilling prophecy, if we behave as though our demise is what they want.

True, a small percentage of the world does want to see us fall, and a significant percentage probably wants to see us 'learn a lesson' so to speak. But, I think the majority of the world is like us, and knows that we're people like them. They don't wish harm on their fellow man, from any country.

well that is a wonderful assessment of the REALITY we are all living and so we can either choose to

1-not create a PLAN for a verifiable global peace which will guarantee a future filled with nuclear holocaust and the death of the human species as a whole (I am quite certain all the LOWER life forms on this planet would greatly appreciate that)

I have just read a book cover to cover---"The Long Emergency." If it is accurate, then sustained economic growth is UN-sustainable because most all we have now is based on a free supply of cheap petroleum, and cheap petroleum is coming to an ending, just like everything else has an ending to it somewhere along the path of its conception, development, growth, and expiration. As supplies of petroleum dwindle and more petroleum becomes difficult to extract, our ways of life will be altered drastically. Russia and China will combine to hog up much of the world's energy reserves. Get ready because they say that this pessimistic, apocalyptic view of the future is nearer than we might wish that it was, and that it is all real and headed our way.

It all makes sense to me because every country that has ever risen to the status of world leader and superpower, even if only regionally, has had its ultimate downfall, for whatever the reasons might have been. As people grow and decline, as do plants and all animals and all forms of life, so do nations and groups of people. There is conception, and after that growth and development. Our problems are many and great, but NOT insurmountable however if become CONSUMED in smaller agendas and forget the common good that is everything this nation stands for we are irretrievably lost.
In short, let's fix this puppy while we still can, cause time running out. Pointing fingers ain't gonna do it, we need to put forth a plan of the people for buying the future of our nation.
It can be done, if we can just put our emotions and differences aside and work again for a nation of the people, for the people, and by the people.

If you love America and THAT for which it stands, you must put your politics and religiosity's aside for a moment and pull together as the UNITED States we ARE and must remain.
Times present us with serious issues in ALL spheres of daily life, but we must all decide NOW do we want to press forward as a nation United or become savagely destroyed by our own devices.
We cannot become so vehemently enraged against each other that we lose focus on an entire world waiting to see us fall.
If we let in fighting among ourselves swallow us up the rest of the world will only take pleasure on watching us hit every rung on the ladder all the way down.
Our economy, our society, the entire foundations on which this nation was founded are in dire jeopardy and ONLY WE AS A NATION OF CITIZENS HAVE THE POWER TO GET THIS SHIP BACK ON COURSE, but we can ONLY DO IT UNITED, for divided we fall.

I came back today for the first time in some months, before that, years. This place will ALWAYS hold a special feeling for me, after 9-11 I just felt like you did, I had to do something anything about the state of the world. This place really brought us all together like no other place online ever had. We had something real solid going here with alneda and all even us cutups from babble, it meant more to so many people than you probably ever knew. Coming back it always feels so empty, not just because you're gone, but because the spirit of this place left when you did man.

It's like we just keep the light on for ya.
