How does Al Koran define Jihad of Holy War?
Al Koran is very clear in explaining the Arabic word Jihad, or Supreme Sacrifice. or Holy War.

If we consult Al Koran. The chapter "Pilgrims", Sura, reads as follows:
(1) The Jihad (pain) of a woman is the labor of giving birth.

(2) The Jihad ( filial responsibility) of taking care of our old parents.

(3) The Jihad (duty) of a soldier who goes to war to defend the country and Allah.

(4) Concerning the military Jihad Al Koran is very explicit. “Has to be a regular army, against another regular army”. “Acts of terrorism against civil populations cannot be considered in the definition of Jihad”.

You can see now that he was speaking in Illustration. Talking from the point of view of the ‘king’ in the story. Sheds a slightly different perspective on this ‘verse of hate’ doesn’t it. Metaphoric is another term you might like to consider when reading the bible. Unlike the Qu’ran whose texts are deemed literal.

Again, only partly copied. Why don’t you show the whole verse or indeed the whole chapter?

Go away and read these chapters and you will understand the Jesus was having to explain that he was not here to bring peace right that very moment (as the disciples presumed due to the teachings of the Jewish priests) but instead was here to bring an accounting, (SWORD of justice) an accounting dating back to when Adam sinned against God. Perfect man gave up his perfect life in that day in the Garden of Eden. Jesus, as a perfect man, was going to give up his life for God. Thus balancing out the scales of justice. A perfect life for a perfect life. Thus paying the blood debt for Adam's sin, and therefore our, sins. Sinning means to miss the mark by the way. In other words, to live contrary to Gods will. He will not bring the peace they were referring to until Judgement day when all enemies of God will be wiped from the face of the earth. Harsh again. But it IS His world after all and it’s not like you haven’t had the chance to learn what is required of you. Note also that it will be Jesus that does the ‘smiting’ at the appointed time. Not the Christians. Their job is to stay true to the teachings of the Bible. The true religion of peace.

Now if you want to attack Christendom this is what you should be concentrating on. How the politicians use religion to further their own aims. Attacking the bible is pointless as it is infallible. Only a man’s perception of the bible is fallible.

As for the killing in the Bible. The times of the Jews were bloody times indeed. Until Jesus came along to pay the blood sacrifice (his own blood) the Jews were living under very different laws to what Christians are nowadays. In order to survive they had to be brutal with their enemies. In order to ensure the seed survived, which will eventually lead to Jesus’ birth, the Jew themselves were living under very strict rules from God. Yes God said ‘Thou shalt not kill’ amongst other commandments (These laws were aimed at how the Jews dealt amongst themselves and weren’t to apply to how Jews treated with other peoples, especially those trying their best to wipe them out) but some Jews would inevitably break these covenants. They were dealt with harshly. You must remember the only reason for their existence back then was to survive and stay true to God. Any deviation was not tolerated and was put down harshly.

To sum up, partial quotes and misinformed mumblings aren’t really going to challenge anyone with even a basic understanding of the Bible and historical incidents. You need to do better than this if you want to get anywhere. Like I said, stop trying to attack the Bible. You don’t know enough about it for a start. Instead attack the people that misinterpret the Bible instead. Using the Bible to show them they are being ‘un-Christian’.

So you see. Paul was illustrating to those Jews who thought it was wrong to now allow Gentiles (non-Jews) into the faith. In a letter released today by the U.S. Military, an underling complains to al-Zarqawi, the terrorist mastermind, about the low morale that the terrorist organization is currently experiencing.

INTRODUCTION

It was 1997 in the city of Taegu, South Korea at Yeungjin Junior College. Professor John Gobin Shaw from Stuart, Florida discovered plans for the fiery attacks that exploded into history in Washington, New York, and Pennsylvania on that bright blue morning of September 11, 2001. From 1997 right up through the night of September 10, 2001, to twelve hours before the first commandeered jet aircraft burst into a large orange fireball in a tower of the World Trade Center, he had detailed the attacks to about one hundred and twenty people in the Republic of South Korea, in the People?s Republic of China, in North Vietnam, and in South Florida. Discovery 9-1-1, is the story of his uncovering the plans of attack, and of his experiences warning people about them in the years, months, weeks, and hours leading up that ill-fated day for America. Among those apprised of the attacks were college students, a federal officer, a long-time deputy sheriff in Martin County, Florida, the 911 emergency number in Stuart, Florida, and an officer of the state of Florida.

The information is presented chronologically. By chronological it is meant that most of the events are presented in the order of their occurrence; chronological does mean that all events are sequenced by the exact month, exact day, and precise time of day. Most of those details were neglected and lost from memory. However, Discovery 9-1-1 is a faithful representation of the facts. This accounting is free from embellishments, exaggerations, establishmentarian propaganda, and Washington / Hollywood tinsel town hype.

John Gobin Shaw: An Introduction

John Gobin Shaw was born in the small town of Stuart, Florida in 1949. He spent most of his early life in and around Stuart. A few family trips to New Jersey and Mexico broke the monotony of small town uneventfulness. Stuart, while being a sort of tropical paradise, was also a sort of criminal enterprise, a fact not mentioned in tourist brochures and real estate advertisements; this matter will be addressed later. His first taste of international action and politics came after joining the United States army in 1979, and going to a permanent duty station in Frankfurt, Germany. From 1979 till 1981 he lived in Frankfurt military community, and also on Rhein Main Air Force base a few miles from downtown. During this first visit to Europe he traveled in Western Europe. He survived Ireland?s worst railroad disaster of August 1, 1980 in which eighteen people were killed and about sixty-five were injured. On August 2, 1980 a powerful bomb ripped through the main train station in Bologna, Italy killing eighty-six people and injuring about twohundred. Six months of terrorist threats and a warning of a train bombing set for that summer preceded these incidents; he heard those threats with his own two ears, and he knew the people who spoke them. Later he met Mahmet Ali Agca, the Turkish assassin who would shoot Pope John Paul at the Vatican in Rome in 1981. He was present at the release of the American hostages from Iran where he met President Jimmy Carter and Secretary of State of The US, Edmund Muskey.

The train derailment in Ireland, and the threats that preceded that disaster stimulated his
interest in the subject of terrorism. After leaving the military he read several books on the subject, most all of which spoke to the issues of the development and the political evolution of the country of Ireland, and mostly northern Ireland for more recent examples of the subject. He traveled for three more visits to Ireland, making sure to spend time in Belfast, and in the Catholic Bogside (Free Derry) in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In those days the Bogside was considered to be something of an IRA stronghold. There were plenty of resistance activities, IRA actions, and violence to add credibility to reputation as a stronghold. From 1980 forward he read about terrorism, studied it in the real world, and paid more attention to it in the news.

Most of the years between leaving the army and 1996 were spent traveling to Europe, taking college classes to earn a degree, in independent studies, and trekking off on long distance, transcontinental bicycling tours. Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce, Florida awarded him the associate in arts degree in 1982. To August of 2005 he has bicycled about 30,000 miles through nineteen countries. He was unemployed a majority of the time, unemployed so far as gainful work was the matter. Active and involved he was, yet jobless. He lived in the
home of his birth on Osceola Street in Stuart, Florida from 1949 until 1987 when a forced sale of the property evicted him. In 1988 he flew to France to join the French Foreign Legion; however, a long standing lower back problem and pain, low pay, a long five year contract, advancing age (38 then), and other realities dissuaded him from further pursuing that course for his life. He opted out of training the night before signing the contract. However, he was successful in the initial selection process.
After the Legion Etrangere he returned to the USA where he completed academic requirements at Barry University; they awarded him the Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree in December of 1989. It was during his last semester at Barry University he began working on a manuscript named Genesis of Terror, mixing and admixing past experiences, intentions, memories, values, loves, hates, and conflicts, with a fertile imagination and then transforming them into English prose.

The Decision To Emigrate

After obtaining the bachelor degree he labored in construction sites on the east coast of Florida, and occasionally entered the ranks of the homeless unemployed. Living around Stuart for years working in labor pools, daily work for daily pay, for minimum wage, sleeping nights in a van, and trekking away on continental bicycling tours was actually a pretty good life. In 1994 an intended journey of bicycling around the world from France to China was aborted because of severe poisoning suffered in Czech, Poland, and in the former Soviet republic of Ukraine. He bicycled alone near the border of the former Yugoslavia where wars of ethnic genocide were savaging large populations. Islamic warriors from Pakistan, Afghanistan, the former Soviet republics, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Jordan, North Africa, and al-Qaeda were traversing the land in and out of that war scorched region of mass murder and mayhem.

The following year, 1995, he mounted another bicycling expedition in the United States. It was on this tour that he that decided to change his life. It was time to seize upon a definitive course of action to change the future, and to direct the course of his life onto a path very different from the one he had been following.

Of course there were questions to be asked and answered. What did he like to do? What did he want to do? What were the real opportunities? What were his capabilities, qualifications, credentials, knowledge, skills, and experience? Emigrating away from the United States was one requirement for upward mobility. After all, its people and system had been criminally offensive toward him. He had always liked foreign countries anyway. He had the Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree with courses for professional education in Florida. There were jobs for Americans to teach English overseas. He decided that was what he would do. After traveling back to Stuart, Florida, he began self-imposed tasks to increase his employability as a teacher on the international market. Studying for a six-month diploma in teaching English as a foreign language, and volunteering as a tutor of ESL (English as a second language) at the Martin County Literacy Council were available to him. He seized his opportunities.What comes next is a true story as told by himself. It is real, accurate, shocking and true.

Unemployed Terrorist

It was 1995. I was a construction laborer by day, and a volunteer tutor in the literacy council?s language lab at Spectrum High School by night. Then began the process of applying for jobs teaching English in foreign countries. Mailing resumes out to schools overseas for a number of weeks brought little in response. Japan, Turkey, Indonesia, and other countries received my mailings. Of course, a letter of recommendation was needed from my present employer. One day I went to the main office of the literacy council and spoke to the director who was Mary Connolly. When I told her of my plans to teach English abroad, she expressed that she would be happy to provide me with a letter of recommendation. We talked for a while. I told her that I was born and raised in Stuart, which is a rarity for a person my age. I told her that local government there, and some of the society that supported it had been criminally offensive toward me in then past. Apprising her of my novel Genesis of Terror, and that it ends with a one-man devastating terrorist attack against government in Florida, I mentioned that the attack is done with a commandeered, fuel-laden aircraft. I told her that the idea for the airplane-as-missile attack came from my having planned to do just exactly that back in 1970, but that the thinking stage of the planning was as far as my vengeance had proceeded. I intended to take this airplane-as-missile plan to people in foreign lands, perhaps in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia, to see if they might be interested in such a mission. This, I told her, would be an attempt to exact revenge against some power crazy people in the United States who think they are above the law. Mary Connolly said that she thought my plan would not work. I told her that if the plan does not work then that would be it, an attempt ending in futility. I added that I would give it a try anyway. The letter of recommendation was in my hands about one week later.

The resumes were ignored from the looks of it, when an offer came from a school in Izmir, Turkey. Eager to begin anew in a foreign country, I prepared to accept the job and fly away to Turkey. But around the same time, a different message arrived from a country that was absolutely the lowest on my list of considerations for beginning a career abroad, South Korea. In a book named Teaching English Abroad, an advertisement for a job recruiter in Pusan, Korea named Korea Services Group had caught my attention. I had mailed the resume and forgotten it. But here they (KSG) were offering a good position at Yeungjin Junior College in Taegu. The hours, the benefits, the pay, and the vacation times were too good to be true. It appeared as some kind of a joke, as though somebody was having me on. When considering writing to them to cancel the application, a friend in Stuart named Val Brown convinced me it was credible and worth a try. I completed the documentation, got the visa, bought a ticket, and flew to Korea about March 6, 1996. The recommendation from Mary Connolly went with the application. From then on I was Professor John Gobin Shaw. What a change it was, I thought. Yes, if only I had known what a change it would be.

Yeungjin Junior College

The realities of teaching at Yeungjin Junior College integrated well with the stipulations on the contract; It was every bit as good a position for me as had been presented on paper, even better. The job, the office, the living arrangements, and the city were fine. It was a real step up. There was time to refine my manuscript about bicycling around the world. There was also time to write a 270-page thesis about teaching English as a foreign language, and to take further studies in TEFL. The only disgusting part of the job was interacting with some of the other foreign teachers there, the Americans, not all of them, but some. Some had the narrowest, most ignorant views of world realities, but arrogated to themselves that they knew it all, and, frankly, where dealing with some of them was the matter, they made me sick, not figuratively sick, but physically ill; they turned my stomach. Some of them were really and truly sickening. The job opportunity was a great one for me. As circumstances evolved and changed with time, I would find myself casting farther abroad for venues in which to continue teaching English. Nothing good lasts forever and it was good while it lasted.

Yeungjin Junior College in South Korea and the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia: 9-11-01 Plans discovered.

It was 1997. I had been teaching English as a foreign language at Yeungjin Junior College in Taegu, South Korea since March of 1996. While it was a dream job by comparison to employments made available to me back in the United States, it also began to materialize as a sort of dictatorship under which a man?s rights were not his own. My best friend was Larry W. Bowman PH.D. Jealous and envious Korean teachers and administrators at the school mounted a slander campaign against him which prompted him to leave. Larry had landed a good government security job at Kwajaleen Atoll missile base in the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific. At least he had a good job waiting. The front office had been stealing our incoming mail for some time. Because the school provided apartments free of rent,, they assumed the right to dictate other departments of their employees? lives. In the United States such invasiveness would be out of bounds and legally actionable. After comprehending the way Korean?s regarded their foreign teachers, I decided to remove farther abroad to continue my career in TEFL. Because I had been studying day and night to earn an MA degree in TEFL from a university in the United States, I began applying for teaching positions in universities and colleges. Applications were sent through the Internet. Larry W. Bowman wrote me a letter of recommendation for applying to the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, my first known contact with persons in Saudi Arabia started with an application for teaching English at a major engineering university.

After downloading the application from the school's website, I transferred the needed information to it, and mailed it. One section of the application required that the applicant list and summarize any published or unpublished manuscripts written in English. This I did. I had written a novel, Genesis of Terror, about 250 pages, in 1989-90. I had written The Last Great Bicycling Tour, a 270-page book about bicycling around the world, I had written a thesis Reading-Listening-Writing-Speaking: The Four Component Skills Of English Taught Separately And As An Integrated Whole In The Second Or Foreign Language Classroom, about 270 pages. This was the result of an academic writing project. I printed all required information into the applications forms, mailed them to KFUPM in Saudi Arabia, and waited.

When following up with a phone call, a Canadian or American man said that he had been instructed to tell me that they wanted to help me. He said the school required an MA degree from a regionally accredited college, and that the applicant must have the degree in hand at the time of application. At another point of deception, the school I had been studying through had provided me fraudulent information regarding their accreditation. The president of American World University, Maxine Asher, had told me that she knew the Saudi Royal family. She said that their school and their degrees were recognized in Saudi Arabia. She assured that my degree in TEFL from AWU qualified me for a position teaching in Saudi Arabia. Later, however, A Dr. Hamadi at the Saudi Arabian cultural liaison office at the embassy in Washington told me that I was wasting my time and my money studying with that school if I wanted a job in Saudi Arabia.

Okay, so Maxine Asher of AWU had defrauded, lied, and cheated me out of three thousand dollars cash, but it was not a total loss, for I had done the studies and written a long research paper. Knowledge is an intangible gain, but a gain of sorts nonetheless.Like Benjamin Franklin said---If you are going to empty your pockets, empty them into your head. I would like to add here that even though subsequent investigations revealed that Maxine Asher, American World University, and the World Association of Universities and Colleges were scamming unsuspecting students out of many thousands of dollars worldwide, there is still not any legal apparatus through which I or anyone I know of can obtain reimbursement or compensation for our losses. As in Florida, as in the US military in Germany, people commit crimes at will, and simply go free. Here is another justification for appealing to forces from foreign countries to intervene. The United States has become a vast criminal enterprise where the biggest thieves and criminals run scot free if they have the finances and the right kinds of connections, while the little people end up spending significant portions of their lives in prison for small offenses. There I was working hard, doing serious research in a legitimate chosen field of endeavor, willing to pay good money to increase my knowledge and expertise, and what was there in answer to this? Hucksters and grifters saw their advantage and played me for the fool.

E-Mails Reveal A Plot: E-mails Goad An Attack

Realizing that the dream of working in Saudi Arabia and saving enough money to buy a house would not reach full fruition, I began again writing to the King Fahd University. One of their messages had stated that they would take the application with only the BA degree, but that the ministry of education would be constrained by law to reject it. The position required a degree directly relevant to the subjects being taught, e.g., MA in Linguistics, TESOL, TEFL; the applicant must have already been awarded the degree before applying for the job. The degree must have been awarded from a regionally accredited college or university.

It was in this post-application writing that I began informing them about my experiences growing up in Florida in the United States, and about serving in the US armed forces in Europe. The fact was that my hometown of Stuart in Florida, while being a sort of tropical paradise, was also a sinister, criminal enterprise. I penned some vague details of the numerous nefarious crimes committed against others, and me indicating that the system of government protected criminal perpetrators from arrest and prosecution, and then pursued with vindictiveness the very people against whom the crimes had been committed. Of course, the system derailed that way only part of the time, and not so with everyone, but it did do this. In my volunteering this information I kept the wording as general as possible, concealing explicit details that might have been an invasion on the privacy of others, or which might become an embarrassment in the future.


Why Attack The State?

Numerous threats made against me by people working for the United States Army in Germany, and how a train I was riding on in Ireland on August 1, 1980 was derailed, killing 18 and injuring 65 appeared on the information grid, courtesy of John Gobin Shaw. The day after my train was derailed a terrorist group detonated a powerful bomb in the main train station in Bologna, Italy killing 86 and injuring 200. A woman in Frankfurt, Germany had cautioned against riding on a train tour that summer because one of the trains would be bombed, and that is a whole other story in itself. Perhaps it was mentioned that I had met Mahmet Ali Acga in Frankfurt before he traveled to the Vatican in Rome to shoot Pope John Paul. The confrontation with Mahmet Ali Agca, his companion, and I was situated about one city block from where that woman was when she warned that a train might be bombed that summer. My presence at the release of the American hostages from Iran where I met President Jimmy Carter and Secretary of State Ed Musky was also a part of the messages I e-mailed to them.

I also admitted one of the other reasons I had applied for a job in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Sure the pay was high and the hours were low; there was a very good package of fringe benefits; however, those were only some of the motives I had for seeking employment within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I wanted to live there and work there so that I might achieve some influence with wealthy, influential Saudis with friends in high places, perhaps in Washington D.C., who might be willing to help settle some accounts against persons back in the USA, persons who considered themselves above the law. This was the only motive where seeking retribution was the matter. The possibility of intuiting major, catastrophic attacks against symbolic, military, and financial targets in the United States of America was completely off the charts, and flying below the radar, but not completely below. Later, in 1998, I married a young Chinese woman in Beijing. She gave birth to a baby girl (Mary Elizabeth Shaw) born in Taegu, South Korea on March 15, 2000. Back in the USA in Stuart, Florida, earlier in 2001, when she was about 11 months old, three criminal brutes manhandled her badly in public. Her injuries needed repeated, costly medical treatment at a hospital for healing. And true to Florida' s criminal government, the three brutes that hurt her are walking free, never arrested, just as though their perverted crimes were acceptable. Perhaps you see a point beginning to emerge here. That was just one incident of several of incidents over the years. Appealing to foreign powers to intercede against this criminal enterprise of a government in Florida was necessary because law enforcement and government had willfully refused to function for us. Contacting the King Fahd University and others in Saudi Arabia was partly an appeal to powers of a foreign nation for law enforcement and retribution. That people were actually intending to launch this airplanes-as-missiles style attack was almost completely shrouded in mystery.

Genesis Of Terror

Summarizing my novel Genesis of Terror I explained how it ends with a one-man terrorist attack against government in the state of Florida. The method of attack is with commandeered, fuel-laden aircraft and high explosives flown into a large government complex in Florida. A knife is also used in the attack. I still have it all on paper, the novel that is, with details and all revisions on original paper with a copyright from 1990. At first mentions of this novel and its plot, the commandeered, fuel-laden aircraft was omitted. All I told them was that it was a one-man terrorist attack against government in Florida.

They wrote back telling me that they were very interested and wanted to continue the dialog. I explained that my plan of attack would be easily enough done in reality. The reason I asserted this was that others who had heard my airplane-as-missile story had said that nobody would ever do anything like that. Apparently they had never seen the Japanese Kamikaze pilots on television. I explained to them that the necessary training for completing the attacks could be obtained right here in Florida. I mentioned that because the protagonist in Genesis of Terror does exactly that; he takes flight training in South Florida and uses those flying skills to mount the attack. At one point in the e-mail discussion I asked them whether they or anyone they knew or were connected with might be interested in accepting such a mission. I offered general instructions on how to act and what not to say to avoid coming under suspicion while getting training for the mission. Stuart, Florida and vicinity were mentioned, as were the moods of the American people and how their attitudes might be exploited. It was all in writing by e-mail. However, there was a paucity of detailed specifications. There were messages to this effect, and they were mostly brief ones.

The identities of the senders and receivers were a mystery. Sending to one e-mail address, brought answers from different persons at various and different e-mail addresses; different from the persons and addresses I had sent to. There was not any memorizing or record keeping. Any possible outcome was still uncertain. If there existed any reason to perceive that anything catastrophic was in the making, evidence of it was outside my conscious range of awareness, but not entirely outside.

Florida---A Terrorist Criminal Enterprise

I told them I had finished the novel with a terrorist style attack against government here. It was because I had been thoroughly screwed over in Florida. In the early seventies (1970) I was considering mounting exactly such an attack myself. I looked into getting flight lessons. I located a site where explosives could be stolen. The plan was to load a cargo plane with barrels of gasoline and the explosives, and transform into a manned missile. Thinking was as far as I got with this revenge because I could not stay motivated enough to follow through with it. I had been provoked, attacked, severely injured, almost murdered with the aiding and abetting of the criminal government here. The intention was to make them pay in a way that history must record prominently. I wanted to make my act against them a permanent entry into the historical tables of the state of Florida. I wanted it to be big and spectacular; a long-term historical event. But, as the provocations stopped for a while, my motivation to annihilate them lessened over time. What I told the Saudis was true. I was considering doing it when I was twenty / twenty-one. Following through with those attacks would have brought the corrupt abusive government power mongers what they deserved. Unfortunately, thinking and planning were as far as it went.
Terrorism in California and Florida

Also mentioned in those letters were threats transmitted to me in Florida in 1993 through a third party, the threats supposedly originating from two dudes in the Air Force, and a subsequent failed attempt at murdering me on coastal California south of San Francisco by two supposed Air Force dudes in that same year. It was around September 11, 1993 that the incident occurred. In this event I recorded one of the would-be assailants? vehicle license numbers: It was 14911F Oklahoma. It is somewhat odd that I was born in November of 1949 (11/49) or (49/11). It looks like they had my number. It looks like we had their number too. Also written were words about threats made in 1965 in Stuart, Florida that I had better not ever have any children around that area because they would be hurt, and the fact that my two year old daughter was absolutely ruined for life in 1968 or 1969 in a so-called botched tonsillectomy at the Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart. It was explained in the e-mail. Here again, precise details were kept to a scant minimum, and while they were apprised of the fact that I had been planning to attack government in Florida in 1970, explicit details about the airplane-as-missile were omitted.

A Recruiting Pitch

I went on to tell them this: I was aware of how the US military had been slaughtering innocent people in the Middle East which was much worse than what had ever been done to me. There would be people motivated enough to accept a mission to launch this style of attack in the USA.
If I could be provoked to planning such a revenge, most certainly others who had been treated much worse would feel strongly enough to execute such a massacre. It would take the guts to accept the mission, and the will power to follow through with it. They would need specially educated and trained personnel to perform the technical tasks of the mission. They could buy the necessary training right here in Florida. Would they or anyone they knew or were connected with be interested in accepting such a mission. This last question was rhetorical. Okay. So all this was in writing. And what did someone(s) reply. We want you to know that "We agree with everything you have told us. We are very seriously considering all your suggestions." I still had not described the attack with commandeered, fuel-laden aircraft on a suicide mission, but they had suggested to me that they already knew what it was I was writing about. I had told others about my novel before this. It took a while for what they said to sink in, but sink in it did. I took their word for. Afterwards I began teaching it in college and telling others. After all was said and done, there was no indication anywhere that what they were saying should have been taken any way other than seriously. I took it seriously

According to the Oxford University sociologist Diego Gambetta, editor of Making Sense of Suicide Missions, a comprehensive history of this troubling yet topical phenomenon, while suicide missions are not always religiously motivated, when religion is involved, it is always Muslim. Why is this? Why is Islam the only religion that motivates its followers to commit suicide missions?

The surprising answer from the evolutionary psychological perspective is that Muslim suicide bombing may have nothing to do with Islam or the Koran (except for two lines in it). It may have nothing to do with the religion, politics, the culture, the race, the ethnicity, the language, or the region. As with everything else from this perspective, it may have a lot to do with sex, or, in this case, the absence of sex.

What distinguishes Islam from other major religions is that it tolerates polygyny. By allowing some men to monopolize all women and altogether excluding many men from reproductive opportunities, polygyny creates shortages of available women. If 50 percent of men have two wives each, then the other 50 percent don't get any wives at all.

So polygyny increases competitive pressure on men, especially young men of low status. It therefore increases the likelihood that young men resort to violent means to gain access to mates. However, the prospect is quite appealing to anyone who faces the bleak reality on earth of being a complete reproductive loser.

It is the combination of polygyny and the promise of a large harem of virgins in heaven that motivates many young Muslim men to commit suicide bombings.
